Bi_(2)S_(3)spherial patterns with well-aligned nanoflakes and flowerlike structures have been fabricated by solvothermal tr ea tment of Bismuth nitrate pentahydrate(Bi(NO)_(3)·5H_(2)O)and L-cystine solution. In this process,L-cystine(an ordinary and cheap amino acid)was used as a sulfur source.Emphatically,no nauseous scent(H_(2)S)appeared in our experiments. The crystallinity, phase structure and morphology of as-prepared samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning elec tron micr oscopy(SEM),respectively. The results show the as-prepared sample was typical Bi_(2)S_(3)orthorhombic phase, and the spherical patterns with well-arranged nanof lakes and flowerlike structures of Bi_(2)S_(3)can be pr epared in N,N-Dimethylformamide(DMF)at 170°C for 12 h.The possible growth mechanism of Bi_(2)S_(3)was discussed based on the experimental results.
L-Cystine was applied successfully as a novel source of sulfur for Bi_(2)S_(3)nanoribbons growth at 180°C for 24 h in a mixed solution made of ethylene glycol and distilled water. The nanoribbons were usually tens of microns in length, typically 100-300 nm in width. The structure of the nanoribbons was determined to be of the orthorhombic.A reasonable mechanism was proposed for the growth of Bi_(2)S_(3)nanoribbons.The as-obtained Bi_(2)S_(3)products were examined by various techniques including X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)and field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM).
